Dodekanes is the largest island in the island group. Rhodes, which was the abode of the Knights of St. John in the Middle Ages and then passed under Ottoman rule, was under Italian rule for a period, and today it has a rare beauty with the architectural blend left from all three cultures.

Santorini Island, famous for its white villages clinging to volcanic rocks above the black sand beaches, was named after St Irene in the 13th century. The most important places on the island are Akrotiri, Ancient Thira, Fira and Oia. Fira, the centre of the island, was rebuilt after the 1956 earthquake. This centre, which has a wonderful view, is 580 steps away from the small port of Skala Fira. It is possible to reach this harbour by cable car or by mule over the steps. Oia, the third largest harbour of the island, became a traditional settlement after the earthquake. Surrounded by neo-classical mansions, Oia is considered mysterious.

The town of Mykonos is the most visited and most expensive Greek island with its white-coloured narrow streets and cube-shaped houses. The main regulars of the island are the world jet set. Mykonos, one of the most spectacular islands of Greece, was founded in 1615. Famous for its beaches, the best beach of this island is located on the south coast. This beach, which is 4 kilometres from Mykonos town, is called Platis Gialos. This beach, behind which hotels and restaurants are located, is the main beach of the island. Mykonos is an Aegean classic with its narrow streets, white houses, pink and white flowers spilling over the roads.
